Bond 23 On its Way
Daniel Craig talked to the times In January and backed up his earlier comments that the writing process on Bond 23 can start with a clean slate now the story-arc from "Casino Royale" has been wrapped up, Craig said that the tone could be completely different too. "I love the idea of putting Moneypenny in the film," he said "I’m dead keen to do it. And Q. But I work from the premise that there are millions and millions of people out there who never saw one of the earlier Bond movies. So they don’t understand the martini gag. Or the Moneypenny gag, which is a gag - it had ceased to be a character. So, let’s find out who she is. We can have fun doing that. And, don’t get me wrong, I’m up for a submarine base, as long as the gag works. The problem is that Austin Powers screwed everything up. He exploded the genre. Did I just say that? I did.

From Russia With Love Soundtrack
James Bond Crazy takes a look into the FRWL history. Following the decision of the producers not to use Monty Norman, though keeping his The James Bond Theme, Harry Saltzman decided on using the then popular Lionel Bart of Oliver! fame. Bart was unable to read or write music, but he offered to compose the music and lyrics for a title song to the film. The producers chose John Barry to score the film. Barry had not only arranged and conducted The James Bond Theme from the previous film, but had already scored some motion pictures such as Beat Girl and Never Let Go. Barry's group also charted as #1 in the November 1962 UK charts with a different arrangement of the Bond theme than was heard in the film.[1]The title song was sung by Matt Monro. Monro's vocal version is played during the film (as source music on a radio) and properly over the film's end titles. The title credit music is a lively instrumental version of the tune preceded by a brief Barry composed James Bond is Back then segueing into the "James Bond Theme". On the original film soundtrack Alan Haven played a jazzy organ over the theme but this version was not released on the soundtrack album. The tune also appears in a soft string arrangement as a theme for Tania.READ MORE

Liz Smith Swam With the Sharks for James Bond

In response to: What's the most physically grueling/challenging thing you've ever done?
The most physically grueling, challenging thing I’ve ever done happened during the filming of "Thunderball" in the Bahamas back when James Bond was played by Sean Connery. I was writing a story for Sports Illustrated. These tough guys working the movie took me out in a small boat to a mountain sticking up out of the water and said, "We’re going to get in the water, swim down and come up inside of this peak, which is hollow inside. We’ll guide you through a hole under the water and we are filming inside." I demurred. I said I didn’t swim all that well. They said, "Don’t worry we’ll guide you."
Then these tough guys working on the film said, "Either you swim down with us or we leave you here alone on top of the water, which is surrounded by sharks. And this is an awfully small boat." I opted to swim but it was horrible and they had affixed a dead shark at the entrance impaled on a spear under the water. I have never been so frightened. Even if I knew they were goofing with me, it was still hard. And coming back out and up to the boat wasn’t fun either. Later, I saw what they filmed in the movie inside that little mountain in the water, but though it probably "made" my story, it was daunting.
